Guidelines Before the First Treatment
It is important to read this prior to the commencement of your Bioregulatory therapy
Each Bioregulatory treatment is a therapeutic process. It is fundamentally based on increasing awareness of the relationship between bodily conditions and psychological processing. Heightened awareness of physical and psychological processing correlates with our ability to suspend defensive mechanisms of ego and mobilise innate self-regulatory mechanisms.
The general recommendation is to simply follow the therapeutic process, allowing the changes to take place. ‘Flowing’ with the therapeutic process means learning how to surrender to your own primary nature, which is the state of original balance, ease and grace. Growing out of a ‘dis-ease’ actually means recognising and abolishing a specific ‘lack of ease’ in one’s body and mind – which is the most essential objective of the Bioregulatory therapeutic process.
Before a Treatment
It is recommended not to undergo bioregulation immediately after a meal, due to a probable necessity for an abdominal diagnostic and therapeutic bodywork.
Please note that the Biomedic Self-Assessment Form should be completed and signed prior to your first bioregulatory treatment.
Make sure to switch off your mobile phone or pager and to remove jewellery, glasses, contact lenses, and any hair accessory prior to each treatment.
While receiving a Treatment
Discussion: Dr Tatyana Bosh will first discuss with you all necessary details regarding your health condition. She will start by taking your medical history, as well as the standard medical check-ups where necessary. Bioregulatory examination also includes a detailed history of your psychological development and related issues of an emotional nature, lifestyle and nutritional habits – which is followed by an evaluation of your structural and postural restrictions. This includes evaluation of muscular tension, joint mobility, connective tissue pull, fluid flow and the energetic status of your body. Detailed knowledge of these weaknesses (Bioscan) is necessary for devising your Personalised Bioregulatory Programme and consequent bioregulation.
Relaxation: When asked to lie on the therapeutic couch, either on your stomach, your sides or on your back, rest your arms at your side. Feel free to speak if something is bothering you, for instance if you feel cold, or if for any other reason you feel uncomfortable. Once you feel settled, close your eyes, relax – and simply tune into the process the same way you might listen to music.
Attention on breathing: Focus your attention on breathing. Let your breath flow in and out deeply and spontaneously. Try to sink deeper into the present moment, letting thoughts drift out of your mind, as easily as they have drifted in. If at any time during the treatment the need to sigh arises – just let it out with a deep, sound and extended exhalation (sighing).
Attention on tissue consciousness: Aim to effortlessly follow the therapeutic process. This does not mean analysing it or trying to figure out what particular technique the therapist is using, nor does it mean that you need to help in any way. Just keep your body as relaxed as possible, as this will allow better detection of acute or chronic tension present in your body. Please note that any mental effort, including intention to help your therapist is counter-productive and should be avoided – as effort is strenuous, and relaxation can never be achieved through any kind of strain. Focus your attention on physical and emotional experiences e.g. to the areas of your body, which feel painful, tender, ticklish, ‘empty’ or ‘in need’ of touch; as well as on your emotional impulses. Awareness is all that is needed.
Emotional release: Mismanaged psychological problems, like suppressed or denied feelings, are always converted into muscular and connective tissue tension, hyper tonus and restrictions. Bioregulatory treatment aims to dissolve them, and in doing so to liberate compressed nerves, blood vessels, glands or organs. This process may bring some suppressed emotions back into your conscious awareness and experience. Hence, as physical tension disintegrates, be receptive and willing to surrender to emerging emotions, giving way to the impulse to cry, for example. The kinetic energy of e-motions may also release itself as mechanical or caloric energy, in which case you may experience shivering, tics, sensations like ‘pin and needles’ or sensation of heat or coldness. Relax and enjoy the experience, knowing that all those phenomena are nothing but your own self-regulatory mechanisms in action towards your healing and regeneration.
Integration: The next therapeutic task is to integrate the entire experience in the most ‘bioeconomical’ way, which allows new insights to arise – discovering higher levels of both physical and psychological integrity and well-being.
After a Treatment
When the treatment is over let yourself absorb whatever you are feeling before you get up. A feeling of lightness and ease is usually experienced immediately after the treatment. Nevertheless, a mild healing crisis can sometimes be experienced instead, particularly after the first few sessions. By definition, a healing crisis represents a short aggravation of the symptoms before permanent improvement takes place. Healing crises are always a positive therapeutic outcome, and thus should be welcomed despite apparent transient unpleasantness, that lasts from a couple of seconds to up to a day or two. It provides opportunities to learn how to embrace unknown and transcendental experience, while observing and witnessing how quickly and powerfully self-regulatory processes may restore your body also in a cathartic way. If a healing crisis appears, the feeling of wellbeing will be delayed usually from several hours to a day or two after the treatment, but consequent therapeutic improvement will then be even more radically and permanently experienced.
Depending on the condition of your health, Dr Bosh will then discuss your therapeutic aims and objectives, and recommend the appropriate bioregulatory therapeutic strategy.
Enjoy your relaxation, release, self-discovery, new insights and increased wellbeing that follows.
